Hello! Thank you for visiting You First Telehealth and taking the time to learn more about our practice. I am an immigrant Cameroonian (country found in West Africa) and I came to the US after completing high school to further my studies. I have a passion for service and preventative care so I gravitated toward a career path in nursing. And while I have worked in different nursing capacities, I realized I could be more impactful in helping people in a provider role so I chose to advance my studies as a Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. The latter I hold in higher regard because I have a family history of Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, and Anxiety disorders. I have, unfortunately, lost a family member due to neglect and lack of treatment for her mental health disorder because of the stigma associated with mental illness. This stigma is largely shared worldwide, and my goal is to try and dispel the untruths surrounding mental health one person at a time. At You First, your mental health, physical health, and well-being are our priorities. My goal is to give you my undivided attention, listen to you, understand you, empathize with you and assist you in achieving your optimal state of well-being. In my practice, you won’t be just another number. Each visit will be with me, with no time spent in a crowded waiting room.

Melaine graduated with honors from California State University Dominguez Hills with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She attended Chamberlain University where she received a Master of Science degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She then furthered her education at Maryville University where she received a post-graduate degree as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She is Board Certified by both the AANP and ANCC.

Melaine started working as an ICU Registered Nurse at UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center in 2007. She’s had several RN roles including Oncology, Telemetry, and Case Management. After graduating as an FNP, she worked in Physical Medicine & Rehab, Occupational Health, and as a Hospitalist. After obtaining her PMHNP degree, she has been working as a telehealth provider both in primary care and psychiatry roles.
